Wofford Acres Vineyards
There has been an ongoing argument in our house about which wine tastes best with blue cheese and pate; Port or Cabernet Sauvignon. I am on the side of Port, my husband, a Frenchman, chose the Cabernet Sauvignon. We decided to put it to the test; and what fun that was! We chose a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Port we were both fond of and got some Brie, Stilton, Blue Cheese and Pate and gave it a whirl. Great cheese, great wine; who can complain. So to go along with the tasting we decided to do a highlight of the vineyards, the wines and the winemaker responsible for the wines to make the whole comparison go full circle along with the tasting.

So stay with us as we discuss the choices made in the vineyard and winery and let you decide on your own what you think. The link to the wine comparison is at the bottom of the article.
The Winery: Wofford Acres Vineyards is a small winery perched on the edge of Redbird Canyon in the beautiful central Sierra Nevada Foothills near Camino, California. To access the full winery description and a Google map to the site, see our sister site, Sierra Wines. The 20 acre estate is surrounded on three sides by Bureau of Land Management land near the South Fork of the American River. This is a breathtaking spot with views to the north and west of the incredibly deep river canyon and foothills descending toward the valley floor in the distance. The winery itself is located amidst an attractively landscaped lawn and picnic area that just invites you to put up your feet and watch the colors change over the canyon while tasting that great wine you just purchased. The tasting room is small, but intimate with a great welcoming atmosphere where the Wofford family prides themselves on making their customers feel at home. Continued ...
