Indian Peak Vineyards: Located on the same road as Alger Vineyards, the winery is also found on the same well-drained volcanic soils with a cooling influence from the altitude of the vineyards that helps increase hang time. They currently grow Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc and hope to soon offer three varietals for sale at the winery. There is currently no tasting room at the winery, but appointments can be made for a tour and wine tasting.

Lassen Peak Winery: Located north of the Manton region off Highway 44 east of Redding, Lassen Peak is located on a beautiful hillside with incredible views of the valley in the distance. The vineyard currently sells most of the grapes out of the county, but retains a small amount for use in the production of Merlot, Chardonnay, Shiraz and a Bordeaux Blend that also includes grapes from the Alexander Valley and Lodi. They are in the process of constructing a tasting room and it is unclear if they allow tasting by appointment. We could
not find a phone number for the winery, but you can contact them at their web site listed below.

Mt Tehama Vineyard: The winery is located in the same valley near Manton as Alger and is named after the mountain that was the precursor to Mount Lassen. The winery produces a Shiraz wine that took a blue ribbon at the recent Shasta District Fair. The winemaker at Mt Tehama is Richard Bunch. Located at 2660 feet, the winery employs organic farming practices to enhance the quality of the wine. There is currently no tasting room at the winery, but the wines can be purchased at several markets in Red Bluff, Redding and Shingletown. For those of you that collect labels, this is definitely one to have!

Cove Crest Vineyards & Griggs Winery: This is a very small vineyard and winery located just off the Highway 299 out of Redding to Burney Falls and points east. There are currently 3 producing acres of Chardonnay, Viognier, Pinot Grigio, Merlot and Riesling vineyards. At 2300 feet in elevation, the area enjoys warm days and cool evenings so common in the foothill regions of California. The winery currently produces a Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Red wine blend of Zin and Shiraz, Rose, Merlot Blush, Zinfandel Blush and a white wine blend. Coming soon is a more standard Zinfandel and Merlot. The winery does not do any tasting at the winery, but does sell their wines at the Farmer’s Market in Redding every Saturday spring through fall.
