Tour of the Napa Valley
Distance 100 miles, 5400 Feet of Climbing

The tour of the Napa Valley started 31 years ago and continues to run strong.  The ride is limited to 2000 riders and encompasses three rides; a 35 mile fairly flat out and back, a sixty-five mile ride that has 3400 feet of climbing and the 100 mile ride with roughly 5400 feet of climbing.  The 65 and 100 miles rides take you through the quiet back roads of the Napa Valley, past wineries and vineyards and with marvelous views of this picturesque region.  This is definitely worth doing at least once if you are interested in wine touring and bicycling.

We started riding at 6:30am, just as the first full rays of sun were peaking over the Vaca Mountain range on the east side of the valley.  It was a glorious morning for riding; temperatures in the mid 50s, no fog and not much wind.  The ride starts with a quick, flat seven miles down Soscol Avenue that runs from Yountville south to the city of Napa. Continued ...
