Story Winery: This beautiful little winery is located in the Shenandoah region of Amador County on the edge of a canyon with a great view of the foothills in the distance. This is a winery that offers Zinfandel and Mission wines, many from their own old vines. Their oldest Zin vines can be dated through local records to at least 107 years old and are probably much older and some gnarly old Mission vines that that line the picnic area and parking lot. Tasting their numerous Zin wines gives you a chance to see the difference in clones and vineyards as well as how different an Old Vine Zin can taste from one from a younger vineyard. It is intriguing.
The picnic area where the music is offered is the closest public area to the edge of the canyon with large spreading oaks providing plenty of shade and offers the best views. This is a great spot for that picnic lunch you brought and that great bottle of Zin you just bought in the tasting room! The event start times vary between 12:00 and 1:00 and vary in length, so check the Story Winery website for exact times. This is a great time, and like many of the other wineries, is family friendly. So, if you want to spend a couple of hours enjoying some great wine and the beauty of the Sierra Foothills on a summer afternoon, pack up the car and head for Story Winery. For directions and
